Case Study – WANDA Silicon Valley

WANDA (the Women’s Achievement Network and Development Alliance), a small non-profit in Silicon Valley whose ambitious goal is to “break the cycle of poverty, one single mother at a time,” hired Swoop to oversee communications and marketing for a 24-hour online fundraiser.

The goals of the assignment were to activate WANDA’s supporters through their email marketing system and social media platforms and to create fresh, impactful content across all media types.

Recognizing that WANDA’s social media presence was still in its infancy, Swoop focused on engaging existing supporters through CRM-generated emails, and building a foundation for increasing brand awareness.

What did we do?

We created powerful content. In addition to producing a two-minute video featuring current WANDA clients and leaders, we created a series of infographics to outline the issue of single mothers and poverty, and to make the case for supporting WANDA’s efforts.

We empowered WANDA’s biggest fans. We packaged all of the assets we created into a Digital Toolkit, which WANDA shared with its most active supporters so that they could activate their own networks in advance of the fundraiser.

Developed and implemented an editorial calendar. We created messaging (including graphics) and scheduled social media posts and e-blasts for the week before the fundraiser and for the 24-hour event itself.

Successfully pitched WANDA to local media. We wrote a press release and pitched it to local media, which resulted in an article in the regional daily newspaper.
